    After failing to wound the lion with arrows shot from only a bow Heracles could draw, he then waits for the lion to return to its cave. Noticing the cave has two entrances Heracles uses boulders to close one entrance, then entering the other. Only one will exit.

    Since the lion's hide was impervious to arrows, Heracles would instead uses his brass plated, olive-wood club to stun the lion, allowing him time to grasp the beast by the throat to strangle the life from it.
